Independent Residential Design

About the Project

The design requires transforming the existing spatial order into a standalone residence with the following specifications:

1. The building comprises three floors, and the base area of the building must not exceed 15m x 15m.
2. The originally shared spaces must be interconnected across at least two floors, with the vertical walls (6m x 6m) retained.
3. The residence must consist of at least four bedrooms, two living rooms, and two bathrooms. This includes a master bedroom with an attached bathroom, guest rooms, a children's room, a nanny's room, a study, a guest bathroom, a dining room, a living room, and a garage (with a minimum size of 3.5m x 6m). Other functional spaces, such as a music room or a fitness room, can be arranged as desired.

Starting the Project

The entirety of the design endeavor is circumscribed by the stipulation to construct the comprehensive residential design predicated on the antecedent spatial order mini-project. I introduced subtle modifications to the interlinked internal spaces, thereby ensuring that the edifice caters to precise residential requisites. This foundational framework then served as a launchpad for the subsequent finessing of the overarching design, culminating in the fulfillment of the project's comprehensive prerequisites.

Summary

This is the first time I've been exposed to architectural design courses throughout my university years, and the entire process of attending classes and completing assignments has been incredibly fresh and enjoyable. I've not only come to understand how different spatial environments can evoke varied sensations, but I've also acquired fundamental architectural knowledge. Moreover, I've picked up some useful tips for purchasing houses during class discussions. After this course, my skills in modeling and rendering have significantly improved as well.
